Decadent Thursday: Thunder by Taryn Kincaid

Title: Thunder
Series: Sleepy Hollow #2 | 1Night Stand
Author: Taryn Kincaid
Genre: Paranormal, erotic romance, urban fantasy
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Format: Ebook
Pages: 36

Purchase: Decadent Publishing | Amazon |

Lonely young witch, Veronica Hardwicke, has struggled to get on with her life after the death of the elderly husband who’d left her a fortune and a sprawling estate in mystical Sleepy Hollow. When frightening things go bump in the night on a stormy Fourth of July, who better to call than the sexy developer and contractor, Sean Jones, who's been renovating her mansion for months?
Sean may grace the tabloid pages with a different supermodel on his arm every night, but it's Veronica who drives him nuts. Ignoring his instinct to stay away, he answers her summons.
Will the thundering passion of their 1Night Stand tear down the barriers between them?

Excerpt:

Veronica paced back and forth in the grand entry foyer of the Belmont mansion, the kitten heels of her Prada mules clacking on the marble floors.
The rest of the place might not be finished, but she’d insisted on having a few rooms completed, so at least she felt like she was living in a home, rather than a massive, never-ending construction project. Well, her contractor had insisted, even though working around the main entrance and central hallway created more work for him and his crew. But she was forced to admit he was right.
Her cell phone chimed on top of the antique credenza shoved flush against one wall. She leaped for it. Probably Geneviève, to regale her with all the fun she was having inParis. Or Sean, to advise her he couldn’t make it after all. She sighed and read the text message on the small screen.
Congratulations, Veronica. 1Night Stand has found your date. Have a good time.
With both anxiety and mounting excitement, she stared at the screen and waited. No other info. Outside in the night, thunder boomed. She jumped then laughed at herself.
Ghosts are one thing, but freaking out at the weather now? Cripes, you really do need this date!
She let her imagination run wild, then texted back for more details:
When? Where? Who?
An insistent pounding at the front door jarred her out of her fantasy. She swung the door open on another explosive crack of thunder.
Sean stood on her doorstep, his soaked T-shirt molding sculpted pecs and abs, his drenched hair flattened over his brow. Rain poured down as he fiddled with his iPhone, a bemused expression on his face. Behind him, jagged arrows of lightning tore the dark sky. He glared at the screen, glanced at her in confusion, then back at the screen.
Veronica’s own phone pinged again. Thunder roared. She read the message in disbelief.
You’re looking at him.

Review:
Thunder by Taryn Kincaid is Sleepy Hollow #2, each stands alone, though they are so much better together.

Thunder is a slow burn, shown through the eyes of Veronica and Sean. Both shocked to learn they are each other's One NightStand. Each secretly desiring the other, it is the perfect match. As things start out slow, Thunder sure packs a punch, as the lovers get used to one another in scorching hot scenes that pop right off the page.

Madam Eve does it again, a perfect match with a perfect five stars out of five. Go pick it up today and heat up your night.

When Kayleigh takes a gap year before starting University, she decides she’s going to stay away from guys and just concentrate on having fun and experiencing life. That means going through a lot of batteries, but she’s happy and satisfied.
That is, until she gets to Spain on her travels and meets her new co-worker, Luciano. The scorching hot Spaniard soon has Kayleigh’s knickers in a twist— literally—and the time they spend together seriously raises the bar for her sex life. How will any other man ever compare?

Excerpt:

My first shift at the restaurant passes in a blur of flirtatious glances. My pussy swells and my clit throbs, desperate for attention. It’s all I can do to resist disappearing into the bathroom for a sneaky wank. Even better, I’d like to drag Luciano in there with me and ride him until his teeth rattle. Instead, I console myself with the fact that once I get back to my apartment, I can do whatever the hell I like. And I know for a fact it’s going to involve an orgasm.

I take a taxi back to my apartment rather than walking the dark, unfamiliar streets alone. It also means I can get there quicker and relieve the tension that the sexy Spaniard has caused. I pay the driver as fast as possible then rush inside and slam the door behind me. I heave a sigh of relief as I lock myself in.

Undressing, I drop my clothes by the washing machine and head to the bathroom, desperate to get clean. It’s not work that’s made me feel dirty, though. The flirting with Luciano have left me seriously wet. The panties I’ve just discarded in front of the washing machine are sodden.

Stepping under the shower, I groan with pleasure as the hot water caresses my fevered skin. I stand there for a few seconds, letting the heat and the water relax me. My tension slips away and runs down the plughole. I grab the shampoo and give my hair a wash, digging my fingers into my scalp and massaging it. Now I’m calmer. But by the time I’ve rinsed the suds, he’s popped into my head again. Damn him.

Review:
Raising the Bar is part of Decadent Publishing's Edge Erotica Series. I find the series pushes the boundaries that I will read, however this one just had my mouth on the floor, it is (so far) my favorite. With smoking hot scenes, you can't help but step into Kayleigh's shoes, and in the most delectable of ways. It is very much about two people who can't get enough of each other. It is a short one, as all Edge Erotica are, but this one has the most perfect of endings.

I give Raising the Bar a solid 5 stars out of 5.

Seriously, enter this giveaway, check out Lucy Felthouse's site (links below) and get your butt over to the ebook retailer of your choice and pick up Raising the Bar today! (Hustle! Hustle!) Did I mention Luciano is a smoking hot Spaniard?

For the Love of a Sphinx

When time’s the enemy, there’s no room to pussyfoot around.

Betrayed by her fiancé, Mahri Lassler swears never to risk losing her heart again. She’s convinced she may as well collect cats since she’s on the path to spinsterhood. She adopts a tomcat, and just as they’re beginning to learn each other’s idiosyncrasies, the cat bolts out the door, disappearing without a trace. Her quest to find the darn cat leads her to a confused, naked man writhing on the street. The hopeless look in his eyes touches something deep inside Mahri. Can she trust her heart enough to risk it on a man with no past? Will her love be enough to break his curse?

Excerpt:

Unimaginable agony ripped through him, searing every nerve, and igniting his blood. Contorting in pain, his muscles contracted independently, twisting his body into impossible positions.

What seemed an eternity later, he lay gasping in the dirt. He pulled his lips back in a  painful grimace as he sucked air into his aching lungs and looked around for Brigid. He would think twice before giving her an opportunity to hurt him that profoundly again. In all the battles he’d fought, he’d never felt such pain.

The clearing was empty. Brigid, the cottage, his horse, the small garden where they’d spent hours talking; all of it, had disappeared without a trace. A shiver of unease raced through his limbs.

The breeze, gentle now, ruffled his hair playfully. Testing his muscles tentatively, he noticed only a slight tenderness remained after the unbearable agony of before. His muscle and joint pain paled in comparison to a sudden thirst.

Climbing unsteadily to his feet, he stumbled to the brook. Whatever she’d done to him had messed with his vision. Everything seemed skewed. While trees and other still objects appeared fuzzy, anything that moved snapped with clarity, instantly claiming his undivided attention. A silver sheen blanketed the world before him. It dampened the saturation of the forest colors, but he noticed more small animals scurrying about than ever before.

Closing his eyes to offset the dizzying effects of this visual phenomenon, Morgan stretched toward the musical bubbling of water over stones and lapped several mouthfuls before daring to crack his eyes open. After the tortuous eternity and weird theatrics, he was unsure what he’d expected, but it definitely wasn’t this.

A furry black face with two short, pointed ears and feline eyes stared up at him from the surface of the water. What the hell?

The Publishers Proposal

Genre: BDSM

Daring Desires book 2

Sylvia must fess up her secrets, but things go too far when Ivy, the publisher at Daring Desires Publishing, wants to use Katia as her own personal learning tool for BDSM. What ensues is a catfight between editor and boss, as both try to win over author Katia Lane.

Katia never expected BDSM to come up when she's invited to meet with the publisher for dinner, but sure enough, a ménage is in the making. What Katia can't understand is, if Sylvia asked her to come, why isn't the editor enjoying this too?

Be Warned: menage sex (FFF), BDSM, voyeurism, sex toys

Excerpt:

Determined to win this little game, Sylvia moved up to her sub's neck. She nipped and kissed lightly before running her tongue across Katia's earlobe. The whimper turned into a moan and Sylvia couldn't help glancing at Ivy out of the corner of her eye. Her boss had one of Katia's legs lifted and she was mirroring Sylvia's motions on the inside of Katia's thigh.
Oh, now that's playing dirty. I would have started by kissing her ankles.
Sylvia narrowed her eyes and decided to beat the redhead to the punch. They all knew where this was headed, and she'd be damned if Ivy got to her sweet spot first. She adjusted so that she was seated on the edge of the bed, her feet still planted firmly on the floor, and her ass hanging half off. It wasn't too comfortable, but it gave her access to what she wanted. Katia's pert nipples beckoned her like cupcakes in a bakery. She wanted nothing more than to lick the sweet tips of them until she was satisfied.
As Sylvia began lowering her head, she noticed Ivy had paused to watch her. The woman's eyes were narrowed, as if studying Sylvia's movements. That's right, you are the student and I am the master. You better be studying hard.
With slow, deliberate movements, Sylvia swirled her tongue around Katia's breast. She avoided the nipple with great care. When she tilted her head to glance at Katia's face, the woman was staring at her with wide, pleading eyes. Oh yes, she knew that look and knew exactly what the sub wanted. Suddenly, Katia threw back her head, her body arched off the bed, and her eyes shut. Her breast almost slammed right into Sylvia's mouth.
A quick glance back down at Katia's pussy confirmed Sylvia's suspicions: Ivy was fingering her, fast and hard. An orgasm was wracking the blonde's body, and her moans were clearly audible through the gag. Katia was tugging at her restraints, her fists clenched.
She's right on the edge, slipping, but not free-falling yet. Here's my chance.

Reaper's Novice Review + Giveaway

Title: Reaper's Novice
Author: Cecilia Robert
Genre: YA, Paranormal
Publisher:
Pages: 335
Rating: 5/5
Buy: Amazon

17- year- old Ana Maria Tei’s life has always been perfect: loving parents, good grades, and a future so bright it outshone the sun. But now words like “separation” and “divorce” are sending her world plummeting to hell. Determined to keep her family intact, Ana plans a family-bonding trip from Vienna to Tuscany. Except fate has other plans. Ana’s parents and siblings are killed in a car accident on their way to pick Ana up from school.
Enter Grim, aka Ernest. He promises to relinquish the four souls if Ana agrees to trade her soul for theirs and serve a lifetime as his novice. In order for Ana to graduate from her Reaper’s Novice station to a Soul Collector graduate, Grim puts her to test. To her horror, she finds out becoming a Reaper’s Novice didn’t happen by chance. It was preordained, and she is forced to make a choice: save her family’s souls or come to terms with who she really is and complete the task set for her.
The first book I read from Cecilia Robert was last April, and it was "Madly, Truly, Deeply" it was a beautiful piece of work. When the tour invite came in for Reaper's Novice. I knew it was something  I very much wanted to read. And Reaper's Notice surely didn't disappoint.

Ana is 17, the oldest of 3 children. Her parents going through a hard patch in their marriage. Ana thinks a family trip is just what they need. With a four day holiday fast approaching, on the day they are slated to leave, a tragic car accident rips her family away from her, even worse, she's the one to find the mangled wreckage. This is where she meets Grim, though most would call him Death. She strikes a deal with him. He'll release her family's souls in exchange for her own. The deal comes with a price... immortality, she'll be bound to him forever, or until he releases her. She begins her journey in Novicehood.

Ana finds it hard to juggle her school load, friends, family, and soul collecting. Not to mention the hot boyfriend, who is just now showing signs of anger. She has thirteen months to finish her training, which she has to pass, so Grim can stop hanging their souls over a confused and learning Ana.

Reaper's Novice is a fast paced, clinging on the edge of your seat novel. I simply couldn't put it down. It has the twists and turns of an action, the heart ache, and anguish of a drama, mixed with the supernatural twists that makes it truly fantastic.

The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, and I can't want to get my hands on book two!

Isle of Sensuality by Aimee Duffy

Today I have a special guest, Aimee Duffy, author of Isle of Sensuality, which released from Beachwalk Press today. But first let's see what her book is about.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Who knew being with Mr. Wrong could be so right?

Caitlyn Hart is shooting her first movie, and she doesn't want to screw it up. Still, she's on a deadline and when her co-star, Mr. Hot Shot Campbell, holds filming up, he's immediately on her shit list. But she can't ignore his charms for long or the overpowering want she feels for him. Even though she knows he's her Mr. Wrong, she doesn't mind him being her Mr. Right Now. If only her silly heart would stay immune.

Having been burned once, Jake Campbell doesn't have the capacity to love, but that doesn't mean relationships of a purely sexual nature are off limits. After all, a man has needs. His sexy co-star with fire red hair and a passion to match ignites his own desire and he sets out to convince her a fling is the only way to scratch the proverbial itch. Little did he figure that she'd be the one to penetrate the thick scars on his heart and make him feel.

And now Aimee Duffy.

Firstly, I’d like to give a huge thank you to the Ebook Reviewers for having me here today.

I have to admit that when I was asked to do a guest post, I panicked a little. It’s hard enough coming up with things to natter about on my own blog, how can I think up something amazing for someone else’s? So I put it off for a bit, certain I’d think up something spectacular—verdict’s still out.

When filling out an interview for a site who had reviewed both my books, she asked a question that got me thinking. Why do you write celebrity based shows, is it because you’ve always wanted to be in the spotlight?

The answer is no. I’m shy, would clam up in front of an audience and turn ten shades of red all over, but she is absolutely right. All the books I’ve penned to date star a celebrity of some shape or form. I hadn’t realised this myself until she pointed it out.
The answer probably lies in my gossip magazine addiction. Celebrities’ lives are splashed over the news, readily available and they interest, infuriate, annoy and make me laugh. Maybe I’ve stuck to celebrities for so long because the details of their lives are readily available.

For example, I read about Posh & Beck’s marital issues when Becks decided he wanted to go to a European team, but Posh loved their life in LA and didn’t want to move, but at the same time, she was scared to leave him alone. An idea for a marriage on the rocks story popped into my head and I jotted it down in my ideas book.

So yes, I have written stories featuring one or more celebrity, but I think it’s because their lives are readily available for the pickings. Everything they’re ashamed of is laid bare for the world to see, and the magazines who write about them are my main source of inspiration.

Isle of Sensuality is a story about two actors who have a fling while filming a movie on an island off the coast of Rio. The steam is all theirs ;o)

About The Author:

For as long as I can remember, I've had a good book in my hands. In primary school I loved Roald Dahl. In high school my English teacher introduced me to Charles Dickens, Stephen King, Jane Austin, Emily Bronte, and Shakespeare. It was then that I discovered my love for romance and I've wanted to pen my own imaginary heroes and heroines for others to enjoy ever since. Only in the last few years was I lucky enough to meet some fabulous and encouraging people to help me gain the skills to make that dream possible.

I live in sunny Scotland in a small town near the Ochils and work nine to five in a solicitors office. In my free time, you'll find me on Facebook, stalking *cough* following friends on Twitter, and may even catch me shoe shopping.

Decadent Thursday: Birthday Bash

Juli Falzone is stuck at home for her thirtieth birthday after the TSA puts her on the no-fly list…until her doorbell rings and she finds two hot cops standing on her porch with a warrant for her arrest.

Are they a practical joke from her well-meaning friends, the best birthday gift ever, or has her identity been stolen? Wanting answers and maybe a little more than curious, she lets them in. Can she talk her way out of the situation or will they make her come along peacefully?

~Excerpt~

“No, sweetie. I’ve got to go. But I did send you a little gift. Enjoy.” Dara hung up.

Juli held the phone out, staring at it, bewildered by the abrupt brush-off.

Another knock brought her to her senses.

When she opened the door, phone still in hand, a summer breeze blew along her skin. Two police officers, completely opposite in appearance, stood on her stoop, stone-faced serious. The taller, darker cop had a white-knuckled grip on his nightstick. The other, shorter and fairer of hair and complexion, wore a pair of intimidating, mirrored sunglasses despite the darkness.

The taller officer cleared his throat. “Ms. Falzone?”

“Y-yes.”

“May we come in?” the shorter—just shy of six feet—blond man asked.

Her instincts said, no, don’t let them in. But she hadn’t done anything wrong, and they were peace officers. Maybe a crazed killer ran loose in the area, and they wanted to search her backyard, secure her locks and ensure her safety. But after the harrowing day she’d spent at the airport that morning, she was a quart low on trust, dubious of authority figures, and testy in general.

Oh, what the hell.

She opened the door wider, looking past them to the curb. “Sure.” A streetlight shone bright on a sedan. No other cops appeared to be canvassing the neighborhood. The uniformed duo filed in, but she wasn’t in the mood to make a pot of coffee or answer a bunch of inane questions. She’d filled her quota for the day.

“What’s this about?” She closed the door.

“We have a warrant.” The tall man whipped out a tri-folded piece of paper like he meant business.

She scoffed. “A warrant. For what?” She put on her tough girl act, but had visions of spending life in prison. “I haven’t done anything wrong.” Ever. Someone must have stolen her identity. First the no-fly list, now this.

The blond whipped off his shades, treating her to sky blue eyes. “Haven’t you?”

Dara always encouraged her to take a walk on the wild side. But every potential one-night stand date had struck her as a prospective serial killer or would-be stalker. She didn’t want to have regrets for living a boring life, but she’d seen too many friends, family members and co-workers make tragic mistakes in judgment. Unplanned pregnancies. Bad marriages. Worse divorces. Bankruptcies. She avoided all of the above.

“What’s the charge?”

Officer Tall-Dark-and-Handsome’s upper lip quirked. “The charge is being too sexy to be thirty.”

~Review~
The Edge Series is known for smoking hot scenes and memorable characters. Birthday Bash is no different, smoking hot scenes packed into such a short amount of time. Author Bio:

Left for dead in an enchanted forest, Kelli was raised by wolves, which explains her thick coat of fur and keen night vision. As an adolescent, she was exiled from the pack due to her love of well-done steak smothered in ketchup (her penchant for blackened beef has also caused her ejection from several fine eateries). On her own, she roamed the streets, eating from dumpsters and sleeping in abandoned dog houses. Cold, starving and destitute, Kelli turned to the oldest profession—writing. Since her fall from grace, she has penned several smutty stories for which she has received many accolades. And despite her limited vocabulary, inability to punctuate properly and her well-documented spelling disability, Kelli has collected an assortment of awards (some of them for her writing). But what she wants most in the world is to return to the enchanted forest and her pack. As soon as she figures out north from south and east from west, she will do just that.

Until then, happy reading.

Master of the Inn By Ella Jade Interview + Giveaway

Pleasure Inn… Where all of your fantasies become reality.

Executive chef Elyse Clapton has had it with city life. She’s spent the last few years building her cheating boyfriend’s trendy New York City restaurant into a success. When their relationship ends, so does her desire to be in his kitchen. She flees to a quaint inn she remembers visiting as a child. She gets more than she bargains for when she meets the sexy, reclusive inn keeper.

Handyman Logan Cole inherited Pleasure Inn against his wishes. Ever since he got caught up in a scandal involving another man’s wife, he keeps to himself – finding solace in a bottle. He didn’t realize how lonely he’d become until Elyse shows up on his porch. He’s instantly drawn to her and convinces her to stay at the Bed and Breakfast.

Elyse comes to town looking for a getaway. She never expects to fall for Logan. It doesn’t take her long to believe the inn’s motto. Logan’s dominance in the bedroom makes all of her fantasies a reality.

Interview:

How did you come up with the concept of your book?
I wanted to do a series of short stories set at Pleasure Inn. The first book, Master of the Inn sets the stage and introduces the reader to Logan and Elyse. This will be the longest book in the series at around 25k and the others will vary in length; anywhere between 8-12k.  We get to see how the inn came to be. Each book that follows will center on guests at the inn but we’ll get to see Logan and Elyse’s relationship progress.

What is your ideal writing environment?
I like to sit at my kitchen table and gaze out the window. My yard backs up to a golf course so it’s like having a park in my backyard. It’s very tranquil and I can get lots done there especially when my kids are at school.

Do you write while you listen to music?
No, I need total silence. I’m a dialog girl, so I need to stay focused on the conversations in my head. I need as little distraction as possible. LOL

If you could collaborate with any author who would it be and why?
I don’t think I could collaborate. My ideas and plots are set in my head. I may make some variations while writing but for the most part, I know where I’m headed and where I’ll end up. I have trouble giving up the control.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Don’t give up! No matter how many rejection letters you get, keep moving forward. Know your market and your publishers and you will find your book a home.

Excerpt:
A light came on in an upstairs window indicating someone was there. Elyse walked up the front steps and tried the door, but it was locked. Just as she reached for the bell, the door flew open and a large, muscular figure appeared. The old screen door and the absence of lighting in the foyer concealed his face.

“Hi,” Elyse said. “I was driving by and wondered if you had any vacancies.”

“Here?”

“This is an inn, isn’t it?”

“It hasn’t been for over four years.” He turned on the porch light. “I thought everyone in this town knew that.”

His disheveled appearance made her think he wasn’t planning on entertaining visitors. His dark, thick hair looked as if he’d run his fingers through it causing it to stand on end. He hadn’t bothered to button his faded blue jeans or put on a shirt before answering the door. Elyse couldn’t help but notice how his well-defined abs disappeared into his waistband.

“I’m sorry.” She moved away from the entrance. “I’m intruding.”

“No.” He stepped out onto the porch in his bare feet. “I just didn’t expect anyone out here at this time of the night.”

“I drove from the city. I thought I might stay the night. I used to come here as a kid.” She looked past his shoulder into the foyer. She saw a fresh stack of wood in the corner and several cans of paint. “Are you renovating?”

“Trying to.” He nodded. “It’s a work in progress.”

She caught a wave of alcohol on his breath.

“Are you just passing through?”

“I’m not sure. I just needed to get away and I remembered how perfect this place always was.”
“Yeah,” he looked over his shoulder. “Not so much anymore.”

“What happened?”

“My uncle owned the place, but he couldn’t keep up with the maintenance. He and my aunt retired and left it to me. It’s just been sitting vacant since then. It needed a ton of work. I didn’t realize how much until I actually started ripping things out.”

“How long have you been renovating?”

“A little over six months.”

“Well, thanks for your time. Maybe I’ll visit when you’re finished,” She smiled encouragement, but disappointment filled Elyse’s heart at the thought of not staying there. “Good luck with the renovations.”

When she turned to leave, he stopped her with a hand on her shoulder. “Wait.”

When she turned, his ice blue eyes held her gaze. The intensity there made her stomach flutter. It should have been a warning sign to run fast and far, but her body responded in other ways. The sensation he created from just one touch coursed through her system, landing straight between her legs.

Oh my…

“For the past few months I’ve been renovating the third floor. If I’m going to live here and run this place, I wanted my rooms to be done first before I started on the rest of the inn. There are two bedrooms up there; both have private bathrooms. You could stay if you want.”

“That’s very nice of you, but—”

“Your room has a lock.”

As if that would keep you out. You have the keys.

“I’m not ready to have guests yet, so I wouldn’t charge you.”

“I couldn’t, but thank you.”

“You drove all this way to Pleasure Inn. There isn’t another place for miles. Spend the night and then you can leave in the morning.”

She wasn’t familiar with the surrounding area and the drive had made her tired. What if she couldn’t find another place to spend the night?

“I don’t blame you for being cautious.” He shrugged. “You do what your gut tells you: but you’re more than welcome to stay here.”

She stared into his deep eyes for a few moments. She’d left the city to get away and forget about the disaster of a relationship with Phillip. She’d done nothing but work for years. She hadn’t been to a restaurant or on a vacation in months. She was too busy cooking for others. Would one night in a beautiful Victorian inn be so bad? How could it be, especially when the inn keeper looked like a goddamned Calvin Klein model?

“I’ll stay on one condition.”

“Sure.”

“You have to tell me your name.”

“Oh.” He ran his fingers through his hair and smiled for the first time since greeting her. “Forgive my manners. I’m Logan Cole.” He extended his hand to her.

“Nice to meet you, Logan,” She said properly as she shook his hand. “I’m Elyse Clapton.”

“Welcome to Pleasure Inn, Ms. Clapton.” He dipped his head as he held the door open for her. “Where all of your fantasies become reality.”

Excerpt:

“It’s been a long time,” he said in a voice that still sent shivers up my spine. “I was in town, and decided, why not?”

I crossed my arms and eyed him suspiciously. “Humm…”

“That’s it? All you have to say is, ‘Humm?’”

“Humm is better than what I was really thinking, Marcus.”

His mouth twitched at the corners, and I hated the fact I noticed how damn sexy his lips were.

     “Guinn,” he said.

“Guinevere,” I corrected. I set my expression to that of unyielding stone and ignored those sparkling straight white teeth as he smiled. His wicked ways no longer affected me. I’d broken his spell two years ago, and I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. I was Mistress Guinevere. I was in control, he wasn’t, and I would never relinquish the balance of power out of my favor again.

He tilted his head in that roguish way and eyed me. Heat radiated from my core. “So, am I to stand here in the hall or are you going to let me come in, Guinevere?”

“I hate you, Marcus, so why should I let you in?”

“Hate is a strong word for someone who claimed no feelings for me whatsoever as she stormed out of my apartment a couple of years ago.”

“What do you want? I don’t have times for your games,” I said rather tersely.

“Let me in. Then I’ll tell you.”

“You’re going to have to do better than that, Marcus. What’s wrong? Have you lost your touch? If you think that will entice me, you are so wrong.”

Marcus Warner, Master Dom, pulled out a gorgeous pair of thigh-high, red leather, spike-heeled boots from behind his back, holding them out in front of him so I could see every lovely inch of the unmistakable Italian craftsmanship on the handmade beauties.

“You won’t let me in even if I’m baring gifts?”

I eyed the boots before returning my gaze to him.

“What’s the old saying?” I asked. His perfectly shaped eyebrow lifted. “Isn’t it, beware of those baring gifts?”

He dangled the boots. Swinging them from side to side. Tempting me.
     Bastard.
I’ll give Marcus his dues. Since the first day I met him, he had my number, and during the year I spent with him, I gave him too much of myself, falling back into what I believed to be the weakness I worked so hard with Mistress Payne to rid myself of.

Marcus sniffed the leather of the boots in his hand, giving me that smile again. He knew me well, maybe too well, and he knew those boots would be like kryptonite, cracking my will.

“All right. You can come in, but only for a while.”

“That’s my little, Guinn,” he said.

“I’m not your little anything, and don’t call me Guinn!” I stepped aside so he could enter, shutting the door behind him.

He strolled into my apartment as though he belonged, sat the boots down on my glass coffee table, and took a seat, rather casually, on my leather couch. He patted the space next to him.

“Well, come on. I’m not going to bite, unless you want me to,” he said, releasing his sexy sideway smirk.

I took a seat in the chair across from the couch. This was my house, and I’d sit where I wanted to.
He chuckled, shook his head, leaned back, and kicked his feet out, positioning them under my coffee table.

“Marcus, are you going to tell me why you’re here?”

     “To see you.”

     “I’m not buying that.”

     He shrugged.

“Aren’t you going to try on the boots?”

     “No,” I said.

“You know you want to,” he baited.

“Listen. I’m not sure what you are up to, and frankly I really don’t care—”

“I’m up to the business of you,” he said.

     “What do you mean?”

“Maybe I let you go too soon. Maybe I regret it. Maybe I’ve decided it’s been long enough, and I want you back.”

I snorted. “I left you, remember? You didn’t let me do anything.”

There was that grin of his. The one that makes any woman consider her panties, his mouth, his tongue… Stop it, Guinevere. Don’t forget this is Marcus, the man you loath.

“Really?” His onyx-colored eyes met me, and held me there with him. Stare for stare, we were locked in a secret power play for dominance.

“We never worked well together,” I said. “You’re a dom, and I’m a dom, and neither is willing to give.”

“Baby, you’re a switch. You like to dominate, but you also like to be dominated.”

     “No. I’m not,” I protested.

“You always liked it when I took the control,” he said, assuredly. “With one word, you were wet for me.”

“I like being in control. And I have no intention or interest in being submissive. Not for you, not for anybody.”

“How long are you going to keep telling yourself that lie?”

I stood up, pissed off and ready to rage. “Marcus, I don’t have to explain anything, justify my life and my choices, or put up with your shit. I think your time is up. I’d like to say it was good seeing you again, but that would be a lie.”

“You’ve always lied to yourself when it comes to me and how I make you feel.”

“You don’t make me feel anything, Marcus. Get over yourself.”

I marched to the front door. Marcus followed behind me. I reached for the knob, and was stopped by his large hand as it covered mine. He placed his mouth to my ear. His warm breath tickled across my cheek.

“Guinevere,” he said in a low, deep growl. Immediately, my sex trembled. And fuckadie, fuck, fuck, he was right. One word. And that one word was my name falling from his lips.

About the Author:

London wrote her first short story in the second grade.  Her teacher informed her parents London had a big imagination, but having a big imagination wasn’t necessarily a good thing as far as he was concerned.  Without watering that seed of imagination, London placed her vivid characters, her childhood stories, along with her imagination on the shelf, where they would wither for a while.  At the urging of her eighth grade English teacher, London pulled her imagination off that shelf, and wrote her second short story.  To no surprise, it was a love story inspired by a song.  Then as life does, it moves on, so yet again London placed her imagination on the shelf to wither for a while.  She needed to do the “sensible thing.”

The sensible thing earned London a degree in Psychology, but while in college she traversed into writing once more, and was encouraged by a couple of professors to pursue that endeavor.  She took on the world of written word, and has never looked back.

London writes erotic romance from sweet to downright naughty.  She is an author for Evernight Publishing, a member of the Romance Writers of America, and a member of Passionate Ink.
